About Stopping Smoking with Hypnotherapy
In the USA, research carried out from the university of Iowa; made the claim that hypnotherapy was THE most successful smoking cessation technique. To find the most effective method of giving up smoking, they used a meta-analysis, statistically combining the results of more than 600 studies involving almost 72,000 people from America, Scandinavia and Europe.
The results, which were published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, showed that those most likely to succeed in stopping smoking were those with a clear incentive to quit, such as people with serious cardiac disorders. However, for most smokers who were not under the same medical pressure to quit, hypnosis was the most effective technique.
Research has shown that hypnosis and hypnotherapy is effective in stopping people smoking that wish to stop. It is more successful than patches, gum, Zyban, acupuncture, your G.P's recommendations, willpower and good old-fashioned cold turkey.
Why is it easy with Hypnotherapy?
If stopping smoking were a simple conscious decision, you would have made that decision already, and you would be a non-smoker.
In fact it is the subconscious that drives the desire to smoke. It usually associates times, like after a nice meal or places, like the cafe or pub or feelings of stress, all with the lighting up of a cigarette.
Through Hypnotherapy I will re-write those associations so that you can make the easy transition to a healthy, smoke free life, without cravings, stress or weight gain.
Most smokers think that stopping will be difficult, that the cravings will be too much, that they will put on weight, that they are sacrificing something, that they won’t be able to relax and enjoy life.
This couldn’t be further from the truth, because stopping with Hypnotherapy is easy, as long as you really want to stop.
The Psychology of Smoking
Smoking is all about stress and reward.
You have a hard day at work, you smoke to feel better, your partner nags you, you smoke to feel better, and your boss shouts at you, you smoke to feel better.
So you quit smoking again, maybe for the 3rd year in a row. You use willpower, gum, patches or anything to help you to quit, because you know that when you do your life will be so much better without those horrible, unhealthy, smelly things.
Then cognitive dissonance comes into play! This is the feeling that something is not quite right. It’s that strange feeling you have when you walk into your house when it has been burgled, or when you forget to put your wedding ring on, or other times when something is wrong or missing and you don’t know what it is. You just don’t feel right.
You are experiencing this now because you’ve just given up the cigarettes (“withdrawal symptoms”). You have lost something really important to you, and you are annoyed, angry, and moody and feel that these feelings can only be relieved by having a cigarette.
You don't seem to be seeing any immediate benefits from stopping smoking, only negatives. Your work is still hard, but you don’t get to feel better. Your partner still nags you, but you don’t get to feel better. Your boss is still on your back, but you don’t get to feel better.
WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU TO DO?
So then, what if you could stop smoking in a single session with hypnosis and feel fantastic?
What if you could completely understand the psychology behind the behaviour of smoking enabling you to quit easily without all of the feelings above?
What if positive hypnotic suggestion could be placed deep in your unconscious mind so that you really do feel calmer, more confident and more relaxed as a non-smoker?
The Smoking Cessation Session
The smoking cessation session is the longest and most expensive session I do. It costs £190 and lasts about an hour and a half. This is because helping people to stop smoking is a specialist skill that requires specialist training, preparation and time. It is packed with discussion; questions and understanding about your belief system and why you believe you smoke. Then we move to the hypnosis part, which will be gentle, very relaxing, and it is the deal clincher.
So stop smoking the easy way now with just one drug free hypnotherapy session made up of a one to one chat followed by a long relaxation period during which I will pose some positively phrased suggestions for your well being that will help you to immediately feel better and leave my practice as a non smoker.
If you are truly committed to giving up, you will find the hypnotherapy method that I use will motivate and empower you to break the habit of smoking once and for all. You WILL be a non-smoker.
Only you can give up smoking, but I can help you do it easily, it’s not magic, you too need to be committed to giving up. You will need to put effort into it the same as I do, it needs to be a partnership, with us both wanting the same outcome, you becoming a non-smoker.
Since smoking was banned in public places you are now very limited to where and when you can smoke. You will likely be cast out into the cold and wet, rushing your cigarette to get back to the warmth inside, only to go through the process again a short while later.
These are just some of the benefits of giving up smoking: -
Within 20 minutes to 1 hour your blood pressure returns to normal.
After 24 hours the carbon monoxide that is produced when you smoke, is eliminated from your body.
After 48 hours all of the nicotine has left your body and your ability to taste and smell has improved.
Within 3 – 4 days your lungs start to clear out the debris and begin to work better.
In just 1 month you will have cut your spending by around £150, that’s around £1,800 in 1 year. Use this to reward yourself.
Between 3 – 9 months your lung function is increased by up to 10%, which means coughing, wheezing and breathing problems will have reduced. No need to be afraid of embarrassing yourself when asked to blow up the balloons for little Johnny’s Birthday Party!
After 5 years your risk of heart attack falls to about half that of a smoker.
You already know the dangers of smoking, but did you know that: -
